CA has been elected to the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) Open Cloud Standards Incubator Leadership board and its VP of industry standards and open source Paul Lipton has gotten the job.
DMTF president Winston Bumpus (pictured) said the election reflects CA’s role in the DMTF’s efforts “to develop a set of informational specifications that enable interoperability between enterprise computing and cloud service providers.”
Others on the DMTF board include Cisco, IBM, Microsoft and VMware.
They are supposed to be trying to set open standards for enabling interoperability between private clouds at both the infrastructure and platform levels.
The Open Cloud Standards Incubator was formed as part of the DMTF Standards Incubation process so DMTF members can work on informational specifications that can later be fast-tracked through the standards development process.
Lipton also serves on the board of the DMTF, the Eclipse Foundation, the Object Management Group (OMG), and OASIS (the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards).
