CSC Kicks Off Google Cloud Computing in LA
Benefits of the City of Los Angeles contract available to all California government agencies

Cloud Computing Expo - CSC announced on Monday that the company began work with Google Inc. to replace the City of Los Angeles' current email and other applications with Google Apps, Google's suite of web-based productivity tools. The contract has a three-year base period and two one-year options.
"By incorporating CSC's cloud computing integration and security expertise with Google's innovative cloud applications, the City of Los Angeles will dramatically lower operational costs while significantly improving the end-user experience and productivity," said Randi Levin, chief technology officer and general manager of the Los Angeles Information and Technology Agency. "We are pleased to make this cost-effective and innovative solution available to all California public sector agencies by leveraging our contract with CSC."
The CSC-led team will support city employees' transition to Google Apps, in conjunction with Google. Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will provide systems integration and end-user services, including solution architecture and design, integration with the city's identity management system, migration of live and archive email data, set-up, and training for city trainers and administrators. CSC also will provide ongoing account and service-level management as a Google Apps Authorized Reseller.
CSC will also offer immediate standardized pricing for Google Apps and CSC Cloud Orchestration Services to all public agencies within California. This contracting approach - pioneered by the City of Los Angeles - enables California public sector agencies to realize similar benefits in innovation, productivity and cost avoidance without the need for a lengthy and complex procurement cycle, maximizing value for California citizens and taxpayers.
