I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Editorial Feature: Publishers Succeed in Digital/Mobile Monetization According to 2012 BPA-Certified Godengo+Texterity Publisher Monetization Survey

SHELTON, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 11/05/12 -- BPA Worldwide and Godengo+Texterity, collaborated for the 7th consecutive year.

The 2012 Publisher Monetization Survey targeted publishers, focusing on digital edition, magazine app, and website monetization. Findings from 139 respondents showed promise but flagged the need for education, experimentation.

*  88% sell cross-platform advertising
* 77% generate ad revenue but underutilize digital rev gen tools
* Audience data is considered important, yet 75% don't use it thoroughly
* 3 out of 5 digital publishers are seeing circulation and advertising gains
* 38% plan a website redesign or CMS overhaul to increase monetization
* Largest advertisers embrace multiple channels, yet budgets rely on print

The complete report, spotlighting Entrepreneur Magazine, Food Safety Magazine, and Meetings & Conventions, is available free at http://www.texterity.com/inforequest and will be discussed in a webinar,"Turning Digital Into Gold," 2 p.m. EST, Tuesday, November 6, 2012. "For us, the most outstanding finding is that respondents -- our customers -- outperform the industry average 3:1 ," says Kim Keller, EVP of Sales for Godengo+Texterity. "Veronis Suhler Stevenson puts today's industry rev gen average for digital at about 5% while our Consumer publishers are seeing 14% and our BtoB publishers, 16%. That's very encouraging, and yet there's tremendous room for growth."

Glenn Schutz, Manager of Communications for BPA Worldwide, echoes this optimism: "It's great to see media owners recognize the brand value of a digital platform. For our members, digital circulation continues to grow and serve as an important means to reach subscribers. For those reporting it, digital circulation constitutes more than 21% of their total audience. That's up from 19% just six months ago."
