Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Check In The Smart Way - Hotel Concorde La Fayette in Paris Breaks New Ground to Become First Group to Offer e-Check-in

LONDON, November 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

This month, Concorde Hotels & Resorts Group launches Smart Way, an e-check-in /check-out system that aims to help busy travellers save time and hassle upon arrival. Based on the technology that has become an airport staple, the introduction of this new service is a FIRST within the hotel group allowing guests to check-in online anytime, anywhere and receive their room key the moment they arrive.

In an increasingly connected and busy world where every minute counts, guests can simply visit the Smart Way terminal in the hotel's reception area, type in the code received via their smart phone during online booking and the room key is delivered!Checking out is just as fast: simply validate your bill using your smart phone and your key can be left in your room.

The concept was developed by Ariane Systems, a company specialising in check-in/check-out solutions. Smart Way provides Concorde Hotels & Resorts Group clients with an additional service, a revolutionary, web-based concept that offers hotel clients a different kind of welcome - convenient, efficient and autonomous.  The perfect plus for on-the-go guests, busy travellers and those who simply want a fast service.

Graham Dungey SVP eCommerce, Revenue & Business Development for Concorde Hotels & Resorts Group comments; "E-check-in is now considered commonplace in the airline industry, and the image of lengthy queues comprising of weary holidaymakers and business high flyers is a rather distant memory. However, it's important to note that it wasn't long ago that this type of technology was simply something travellers dreamed of. We wanted to translate this ease into the entire travelling experience - extending this hassle free, time saving notion all the way to the hotel check in and check out. We thoroughly believe that this service will soon become a staple in all hotels and we are proud to be at the forefront of this movement."

Beginning as a pilot within the flagship Hotel Concorde La Fayette, the service is available for guests booking through the http://www.concorde-hotels.com site. If successful, the Concorde Hotels & Resorts Group plans to roll out the system throughout their hotel portfolio.

The introduction of Smart Way comes weeks after the successful launch of the hotel's client loyalty program, "Concorde Privilege", which enables guests to enjoy exclusive advantages during their stay.
