Santiago Hub Is Platform for Global and South America Trade Growth

SANTIAGO, CHILE -- (Marketwire) -- 11/13/12 -- CaroTrans, a leading global NVOCC (non vessel operating common carrier) and ocean freight consolidator, today announced four new LCL (less than container load), direct services from China including Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong to Valparaiso, Chile. Reliable, secure consolidation and deconsolidation services are provided by CaroTrans' dedicated local offices. CaroTrans established a wholly owned and operated office in Santiago, Chile in 2011 to strengthen its global infrastructure and support significant trade growth in South America. In China, CaroTrans delivers dependable, customer-focused service and support from seven, local CaroTrans offices in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Ningbo, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, and Xiamen.

In addition to the four new China import services, CaroTrans delivers a broad range of LCL and FCL (full container load) import and export services to and from Chile and CaroTrans' extensive U.S. service network. Over the last year, CaroTrans' Chile - U.S. import and export transactions grew by 10%. CaroTrans' West Coast South America service portfolio links Chile with Callao, Guayaquil, and Buenaventura.

"We are committed to investing in consistent, high value services to support the growing South America - China trade lane. Increasingly, global freight forwarders are moving smaller shipments that require reliable, secure consolidation and deconsolidation services. CaroTrans is positioned in South America to serve their needs and provide the highest level of service and support," said Greg Howard, Global CEO, CaroTrans.

Raul Katz, CaroTrans Latin America Manager, commented, "In Chile, over the last year, we have developed a team of highly trained, exceptional professionals dedicated to personal service. We understand how important it is to go that extra mile for our customers. That's why all of our team members are bilingual and are committed to building strong relationships with clients. Our Chile gateway is positioned to effectively serve regional and global growth. These four new import services are the first stage in our development of direct China services to South America."
