Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Plasma Collection Continues to Gain Traction in Czech Republic

-- UNICAplasma Achieves International Certification, Donating Plasma Website Launched

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland, Nov. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) has awarded UNICAplasma, s. r. o. with International Quality Plasma Program (IQPP) certification for its plasma collection center in Prague.

Certification is obtained via a rigorous inspection by an independent third party, and demonstrated compliance with voluntary standards that ensure the highest level of quality and safety of human source plasma.

Milan Maly, Owner and CEO of UNICAplasma, s. r. o. said, "Getting the IQPP certificate is a key step in our pursuit of perfection. It allows us to demonstrate both to our donors and to the relevant authorities how important quality and safety are to us."

People worldwide depend on lifesaving plasma protein therapies to treat bleeding and immune disorders, other diseases and injury. Since 2009, UNICAplasma's mission has been to save lives through safe and efficient collection of human blood plasma for the manufacture of plasma protein therapies.

Joshua Penrod, Vice President, PPTA Source said, "We congratulate UNICAplasma, s.r.o., on obtaining this mark of distinction which demonstrates their commitment to plasma quality and safety."

This news comes on the heels of the first IQPP certification earlier this year. In recognition of the growing importance of plasma collection and the demand for human source plasma, PPTA has launched a website www.darovaniplazmy.cz that contains a wealth of information for consumers on donor eligibility requirements, safety and quality, plasma protein therapies and more.

About the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association

The Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) is a dynamic trade association that represents a unique sector of the biologics and biotechnology industry. PPTA member companies manufacture high-impact, high-value plasma protein therapies.

PPTA and its members focus on patient access to therapies and work globally with more than patient organizations, policymakers and other stakeholders to ensure that patients who infuse or inject these complex biologics have confidence in their safety and quality.

Additionally, PPTA also administers standards programs, including the International Quality Plasma Program (IQPP) and Quality Standards of Excellence, Assurance and Leadership (QSEAL): the National Donor Deferral Registry (NDDR), and the Patient Notification System (PNS).

About UNICAplasma, s. r. o.
UNICAplasma's mission is to contribute to saving lives through safe and efficient collection of human blood plasma needed to produce plasma protein therapies. Fulfilling this mission is made possible in cooperation and partnership with plasma donors. UNICAplasma employs a highly qualified workforce, advanced technology and equipment and strict controls to facilitate the highest level of quality and safety for both donors and patients.
