Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Iveda Solutions Launches Online Map Video Consolidation Service

MESA, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 11/14/12 -- Iveda Solutions (OTCBB: IVDA) announced today the launch of Pinpoint™, the Company's newest cloud-video hosting service. Pinpoint is a video management system (VMS) consolidator and online mapping service that shows location of surveillance cameras on Google Maps™ or other third party mapping platforms. Through a single login, users are able to pull live streaming video feeds from a centralized video management platform. Pinpoint is completely web-based, accessible from any Flash-enabled browser on your computer or smartphone.

In collaboration with Pinkerton/Securitas, Iveda Solutions conducted a successful pilot of Pinpoint at the 2012 G8/NATO meeting in Chicago. Pinpoint was integrated into Pinkerton's Vigilance incident & trend data monitoring system, its cloud-based, 24/7 situational awareness and risk aggregation service that gathers data and evaluates threats.

Pinpoint is one of its kind. Similar services only show thumbnail images on an online map, no live video. And unlike Pinpoint, these services don't have the capability of pulling video feeds from VMS, only static images from publicly-available cameras.

Cloud video hosting demonstrates measurable benefits and value to users. For any business or operation with multiple locations, access to traditional video systems usually requires separately logging into multiple systems. With Pinpoint, accessing cameras is no longer through squares on a computer screen, but through an easy to use map interface, where you can have visibility of all your locations through cameras plotted on an online map. Live video of each location can be accessed by simply clicking on the camera marker on the map.

Iveda Solutions recently announced its first Pinpoint customer. Farmacia de Similares in Mexico, will use Pinpoint, along with IvedaXpress, the Company's plug and play video hosting service, to access video at their retail stores in Mexico.

"Creative applications for cloud-video hosting, other than security and safety, have emerged. Our customers are beginning to realize that it not only saves time, energy, and money, but it also promotes revenue-generating activities," said David Ly, President and CEO of Iveda Solutions.

Retail operations are able to conduct secret shopper initiatives using hosted cameras. Instant shelf inspection for low inventory is easily accomplished without employees physically present at the stores. Thus, restocking is accomplished sooner and more products are sold. Store and endcap display and signage for special promotions can be virtually inspected at any location, on demand from a computer or mobile device.

Businesses no longer need a whole new video surveillance system to gain such benefits. Start with just one hosted camera at each business location and begin reaping the benefits of managing your operation more efficiently.

"Our company continues to innovate cloud video surveillance services that make sense, not only to save them money and provide them security, but also makes money for them," said Ly.

Iveda Solutions' existing hosting customers can now add this new functionality to their service subscription.
