This philanthropic investment represents an increase of 10 percent over the previous fiscal year. "California Community Foundation is alone in creating and managing charitable funds and foundations for meaningful, strategic philanthropy by Los Angeles donors, and that directly benefit Los Angeles communities," said CCF President and CEO, Antonia Hernández. "Assets entrusted to us by generations of donors provide us with the resources and flexibility to make long-term investments in priority areas of the foundation, fund new initiatives with community and foundation partners, and provide one-time grants or low-interest loans in response to critical needs or unusual opportunities." In addition, during the first quarter of the fiscal year that began July 1, 2012, CCF awarded 25 grants and loans totaling $2,680,000 to local nonprofits throughout Los Angeles County from unrestricted charitable funds at the discretion of the community foundation. Over the course of the last 10 years, CCF has raised $1.8 billion in contributions and distributed $1.34 billion in grants, loans, scholarships and fellowships. CCF grants and other disbursements complement the charitable giving of its donors. This combination of institutional and individual philanthropy along with a commitment to civic engagement is part of CCF's multifaceted character.
