Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Oops! Google Forgets Canada's Most Searched Brand in 2012 Zeitgeist

Kijiji pulls Google's data to show their continued place as Canada's most-searched retail brand

TORONTO, Dec. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Sometimes the most popular kid doesn't get invited to the party. With Kijiji's surging popularity and leading place as Canada's most-searched brand, Kijiji was surprised to see they'd been left off Google's Zeitgeist List of Most Searched in Retail 2012.

Using Google's own Trends analytics tools, Kijiji was able to clearly track their leading position as the most-searched retail site in Canada, where Canadians locally buy, sell and trade from coast to coast.

"Mistakes happen to everyone!" said Bart Molenda, Head of Marketing, Kijiji Canada. "But the numbers don't lie: Kijiji is the clear leader amongst competitors in searches for online retail brands in Canada. We're not calling for a recount, but we do hope that next time we get invited to the Zeitgeist."

Kijiji is searched for 2.7 times more than the next closest brand, and as seen in the chart below, is several times more popular in what is otherwise a close horse race.

About Kijiji Canada
Kijiji, which means "village" in Swahili, is the number one classifieds site in Canada, connecting ten-million buyers and sellers each month. Kijiji.ca offers Canadians a free, easy, and local way to buy, sell, and trade goods and services in their community. With local sites for more than 100 cities and towns across the country, Kijiji makes it easy for Canadians to find exactly what they're looking for in their own community. Kijiji Canada is part of the eBay Classifieds Group, the global leader in online classifieds with a global presence in more than 20 countries and 1,000 cities.

Back in the misty eons of time, it used to be easy to measure the performance of your application. You’d grab a stopwatch, load up your web application, and see what happend. If it was slow, you’d look at the mess of PHP, HTML and CSS you crammed into index.php and make sure that...
