Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Elektrobit (EB) Delivered The First Series Of Tactical Wireless IP Network Products To Finnish Defence Forces
The renewal of the Finnish Defence Forces' command and control data networks started

OULU, Finland, Dec. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Elektrobit (EB) has delivered the first products of the Tactical Wireless IP Network communication system to the Finnish Defence Forces. The product delivery consists of tactical router and radio head units and is part of the deal signed with the Finnish Defence Forces in September 2011 for the deployment of EB's Tactical Wireless IP Network.

EB finalized the delivery after factory acceptance tests, where the customer reviewed all military environmental and safety test results and conducted both preplanned and improvised functionality tests on the delivered products. The products enable the formation of Mobile ad hoc Networks (MANETs) and will be used in harsh environmental conditions for land operations.

"The high capacity that the EB Tactical Wireless IP Network provides, significantly improves the Army's tactical data throughput and also enables the use of command and control applications for battalion task forces on the move," said major (engineer) Jari Viuho from the Finnish Army Materiel Command Headquarters.

"By combining the capacity of commercial technologies with the extreme military environment requirements, the EB Tactical Wireless IP Network represents a new way of building military communication systems cost effectively," says Reima Kettunen, product manager responsible for the EB Tactical Wireless IP Network at EB.

The EB Tactical Wireless IP Network is a stand-alone military/authority wireless broadband network. It enables the formation of high data rate MANET, link and connection networks in any location and is compatible with the existing wired and wireless infrastructures. Based on Software Defined Radio architecture, this product is versatile, upgradeable and easy to adapt. It has an excellent performance and form factor as both network node and router functionalities are integrated into a single product.

EB will showcase its Tactical Wireless IP Network products together with other defense products at IDEX 2013, 17-21 February 2013 in Abu Dhabi.
