Niklas Bjorkman wrote: Firstly I agree with your conclusion. NewSQL takes the best of the traditional databases and NoSQL databases to combine the benefits of both worlds. I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

TouchMD Now Offered at Houston Plastic Surgery Practice

HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 12/18/12 -- Dr. James Boynton and his center for plastic surgery in Houston have recently announced they will be introducing an advanced patient education tool called TouchMD to their practice in order to improve their level of care. Designed to visually guide patients through a consultation using photos, videos, and informative content, Dr. Boynton says TouchMD is a welcome addition to his practice and one that will allow patients to feel confident and comfortable going into their treatment.

The TouchMD interface is accessible in-office on a touch screen computer so wait time can be more productive and informative, says Dr. Boynton. Patients can also review their consult via a secure web portal on Dr Boynton's website. The Houston plastic surgeon says this unique benefit allows patients to explore other procedures and products available at his practice from the comforts of home. He adds that other features of the TouchMD technology include the ability to review pre-op documentation, informed consent documents, and any other documentation from the web portal. Dr. Boynton says having all of this information, documentation, and instruction in one, central repository that is easy to access from anywhere ensures that the patient is better informed and more at ease about his or her procedure.

Dr. Boynton says one of the most exciting aspects of the TouchMD system is the ability to enhance communication with his patients. He says finding new ways to facilitate an open dialogue about his patients' needs and goals for their aesthetic treatments is essential to ensuring they receive the highest quality results and the most satisfactory outcomes. Dr. Boynton says patients interested in anything from breast augmentation to BOTOX® Cosmetic will be able to benefit from knowing they are on the same page as their plastic surgeon:

"TouchMD is a fantastic, state-of-the-art tool that significantly enhances doctor-patient communication. Using a large, touch-screen computer, patients can watch educational videos of their choosing on any procedures or treatments, as well as view cut away anatomy images. Additionally, I can draw on these anatomy cut away images, or the patients' own photos, with just my finger to help illustrate and explain procedure details that can be difficult for patients to visualize. Together we are able to discuss the procedure using their photos.

"I am also finding that patients are more well-informed when I go in for the consultation. Having access to all of this from home through our web portal also helps patients share information with key influencers who are then also better informed and able to reassure patients that their decision is right for them."

Regardless of whether patients are looking for a tummy tuck or a soft tissue filler, Dr. Boynton says TouchMD and other advanced technology is safest and most effective in the hands of a board-certified plastic surgeon. He encourages anyone considering aesthetic treatment to consult with an experienced and dedicated practice before undergoing a procedure.
