PDD Expands Global Reach with Launch of Hong Kong Studio

Global product and service design innovation consultancy PDD announces the opening of its Hong Kong studio today. The integration of Formart Industrial Design and its multinational team provides PDD with a competitive advantage for entering Asia’s leading markets.

PDD’s 60-person strong team, at the London headquarters, works internationally with an impressive clientele including Pfizer, Unilever, Samsung, HSBC and Levi’s. The diverse team of talented researchers, designers and engineers apply a Human-centred Design approach to create innovative and meaningful products, services and experiences. With the integration of Formart, PDD will further strengthen its industrial design and production management capabilities, while expanding work in the consumer sector throughout Asia, and specifically China.

“Currently, 75% of PDD’s business comes from outside its traditional home market in the UK, and through the integration of an already successful design company, PDD is uniquely positioned to begin work immediately,” said Karsten Fischer, CEO of PDD. “Oliver Breit and his team have 14 years of experience in the market, allowing us to provide our clients with the invaluable combination of local and global expertise.”

Founder of Formart Design and PDD’s new Managing Director Asia, Oliver Breit said, “Our offering provides clients support on every stage of the product design and development journey, from research to production. PDD already has a client base in Asia, and our multinational team of Hong Kong and Western designers seamlessly blend international perspectives to provide a thorough understanding of the cultural diversity of Asia.”

“Having worked with PDD for over a decade to develop industry leading tools and systems, it is great to know that their global reach keeps expanding. China has long been a great production partner for us, and we will benefit greatly from having stronger links in the local area to supply our increasing portfolio of products.”

The new PDD studio is located on Hong Kong Island in Sheung Wan. Existing clients in Hong Kong include Microsoft, Kenwood, DKB Household and emerging white goods manufacturers in China and Singapore. The office will serve as a platform for PDD’s continued growth in Asia in the coming years.
