I do not agree that NewSQL vendors focus on giving scale-out features to transactional data. The NewSQL market is focusing on giving true ACID support combined with extreme performance, stepping away from the traditional relational structures in databases. A lot of developers appreciate the ease of accessing data using SQL and I think we will see more and more databases supporting standard SQL. As you said - NewSQL databases often maintain the...

Nagaoka University of Technology and International University of Japan Sign New Engineering Management Partnership

Two of Niigata's Top Universities Collaborate To Offer Japan's First English-Only Joint MBA/Dr.Eng Program

Tokyo, Jan 15, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - Today, the President of the Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT), Dr. Koichi Niihara and the President of the International University of Japan (IUJ), Dr. Shinichi Kitaoka jointly signed an agreement at the Keidanren Hall in Tokyo, to officially launch their new Joint Degree partnership, which they have called EMGAP, for "Engineering Management Global Advanced Program".

In this new partnership, students with Engineering backgrounds will first enter IUJ's Top-Ranked Graduate School of International Management, where they will receive an MBA with a concentration in Engineering Management. And, after successfully passing the entrance exam into NUT's world-class Dr.Eng program, students will then continue their Doctoral Degree studies within one of NUT's top-rated Engineering focus areas.

"By bringing together NUT's top-rated Engineering Degree with our top-rated MBA Degree," said IUJ's President Kitaoka, "we hope to make an even greater contribution to the education of leaders who can effectively guide the technical development of individual companies, industries and even entire countries."

"The need for world-class engineers with world-class business capabilities has never been higher," said NUT's President Niihara. "This partnership between our two Universities will fill an increasingly important need by business and governments globally and in fast developing emerging countries."

The new program is also an example of a partnership between a private university and a premier national university in Japan. Student enrollment for the IUJ-NUT EMGAP partnership will begin in September 2013. To learn more about this program, please visit the following website:
