XebiaLabs, the world's leader in Continuous Delivery automation, announced a webinar that will explore the challenges and opportunities presented by microservices. "Exploring the Uncharted Territory of Microservices" will be a live panel discussion that will take place on February 19 at 1:00pm EST. To register please click here.
The webinar, hosted by XebiaLabs, will feature 4 experts including Special Host Gene Kim, author of The Phoenix Project, along with IT thought leaders Gary Gruver, Randy Shoup and XebiaLabs' Andrew Phillips. The panel brings more than 30 years of collective experience surrounding microservices transformations at major companies including Google, eBay and Tripwire.
"The story around microservices and containers is pretty compelling and the attraction of more flexibility is obviously alluring," said panelist Andrew Phillips, XebiaLabs VP of product management. "But deploying a 'Hello World' app on Docker is a long way from making microservices work in real enterprises with large applications, complex environments and existing organizational structures."
The panel will explore the realities of microservices in today's IT world:
Microservices offer a number of potential advantages including scalability, agility, and greater resilience. According to pundit Martin Fowler, there is no precise definition of this architectural style. At the most basic level, microservices is about designing software applications as suites of independently deployable services. Automated deployment and decentralized control of data is part of the plan.
Gene Kim is known as the founder of Tripwire, and as the author of three books, "The Phoenix Project: A Novel About IT, DevOps, and Helping Your Business Win," "Visible Ops Security," and "The Visible Ops Handbook."
Gary Gruver is president at Practical Large Scale Agile and was the former VP of Release, QA and Ops at Macys.com and before that he was Director of Engineering at HP
Randy Shoup is a consulting CTO and former director of engineering for cloud computing at Google. He was previously Chief Engineer and Distinguished Architect at eBay.
Andrew Phillips is VP of product management for XebiaLabs, the leading provider of software for Continuous Delivery and DevOps. He contributes to a number of open source projects including Apache jclouds, the leading cloud library.
