Mari Baker Joins PlayFirst, Inc. as Chief Executive Officer

PlayFirst Expands Management Team to Address Growing Consumer Entertainment Market; Recruits Senior Industry Veterans in CEO, CFO Positions

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- PlayFirst, Inc., the award-winning entertainment company, today announced that Mari Baker, a consumer software and internet industry veteran, has been named its Chief Executive Officer. The company also announced today that Jim Wandrey has joined as Chief Financial Officer. PlayFirst, one of the leaders in casual entertainment, recruited the new leadership to address the growing market opportunity in interactive consumer entertainment.

Ms. Baker brings more than 20 years of consumer technology experience to PlayFirst, including building consumer brands such as Quicken and women's focused brands such as BabyCenter. Her previous roles include CEO of Navigenics, Inc., President of BabyCenter, LLC -- where she led the company's sale to Johnson & Johnson -- and Senior Vice President of Intuit, Inc. Ms. Baker will have ongoing board roles at Navigenics and Cozi Group, Inc.

"Mari joins PlayFirst at an exciting point in the company's history," according to Janice Roberts, Managing Director, Mayfield Fund and member of PlayFirst's Board of Directors. "PlayFirst has become a creative and leading force in the high growth Casual Gaming industry with major franchises such as Diner Dash and Chocolatier. As a proven business leader, an experienced general manager, and an internet marketing veteran, we are confident that Mari will accelerate the growth of PlayFirst across all major platforms and international markets."

Now on the cusp of its fifth birthday, PlayFirst has built a reputation as the industry's leading casual games publisher, releasing award-winning series such as Diner Dash(R), Dream Chronicles(R), and Chocolatier(R). Last year, PlayFirst was named a Fast 50 Rising Star, and took home three people's choice Zeeby awards for their best-in-class video games. So far in 2009, PlayFirst has introduced the hit sequel Chocolatier(R): Decadence by Design(TM) and Emerald City Confidential(TM), with two more titles, Diaper Dash(TM) and Wandering Willows(TM), launching in March.

"I'm thrilled to join this excellent organization," says Baker. "PlayFirst has terrific products that are already enjoyed by millions of women every day. These products play an important role in the lives of customers, providing respite, relaxation and reward in the midst of their chaotic days, as well as low-cost entertainment in today's difficult times. The company has significant opportunity ahead to build on its previous success and expand into new platforms and markets."

Mr. Wandrey joined PlayFirst as CFO in late 2008. He brings to the company extensive experience in the technology and business services industries. He has held senior management roles at fast-growing start-ups and publicly traded technology companies, such as Chief Financial Officer at Telephia, Inc., which was sold to the Nielsen Company in 2007; Chief Financial Officer at NextLevel Communications, where he led their IPO; and AVID Technology where he was the Corporate Controller.
