City of Victoria Goes with Cirond
AirSafe Enterprise Network Protects Laptops

Cirond Corporation, a global provider of network security solutions that protect wired and wireless networks against the rapidly growing threat arising from the deployment of unauthorized wireless devices, today announced that the City of Victoria, BC has purchased Cirond's AirSafe Enterprise network security solution for securing its laptop computers against the network security threats caused by wireless network equipment (including the "WiPhishing" and "Evil Twin" vulnerabilities).

Steven Arsenault, Executive Vice President for Business Development at San Jose, CA-based Cirond Corporation, said that many governments and corporations are finding themselves in a situation similar to that of the City of Victoria - facing demand from users to be able to use their wireless-enabled laptop computers on the organization's established and secure wired network, but wanting to ensure that wireless hackers can be prevented from using the wireless capabilities of the laptop to "hop" onto the wired network.

AirSafe Enterprise automatically disables the wireless radio in a notebook computer whenever the computer is plugged into a wired network. "This eliminates the possibility of a user inadvertently wirelessly re-broadcasting an authorized connection to the corporate network to unauthorized users," stated Arsenault.
